SURE 2008 Poster Symposium (to be updated shortly)The 2008 SURE poster symposium took place on Wednesday the 3rd of September in TCD with 18 summer research students presenting posters of their research work. Students and guests were formally welcomed to the session by TCD Head of School of Physics, Prof John Donegan. Professor John McGilp along with Dr. Tanya Perova and Prof. Iouri Gounko presented a number or prizes to four successful students for their exceptional posters in the areas of content and presentation. Speaking on behalf of the judges Prof. McGilp expressed yet again the difficulty the judging group had in selecting the winners as all the posters were of such a high standard. Prof. Donegan brought the 2008 programme to a close and once again congratulated all the participating students on their success and dedication this summer and also wished them every success in their future careers.

The 2007 SURE poster symposium took place on Wednesday the 29th of August in TCD with 23 summer research students presenting posters of their research work. Students and guests were formally welcomed to the session by TCD Head of School of Physics, Prof James Lunney, who handed over to Dean of Research Dr. David Lloyd to award a number or prizes to four successful students for their exceptional posters in the areas of content and presentation. Speaking on behalf of the judges Dr. Lloyd expressed yet again the difficulty the judging group had in selecting the winners as all the posters were of such a high standard. Prof. Lunney brought the 2007 programme to a close and once again congrulated all the participating students on their success and dedication this summer and also wished them every success in their future careers.

SURE 2007 Launches with Official Welcome from TCD Dean of Research.
| Monday, June 18th 2007: Dr. David Lloyd, Dean of Research TCD, formally welcomed the new intake of SURE students to the programme, and to Trinity College Dublin for those who have travelled from overseas. 20 new students joined together to attend a short induction program followed by an introduction to their research groups and supervisors and will work in research labs spanning Physics, Chemistry and Electronic & Electrical Engineering for the next 11 weeks. |
SURE 2006 Poster Symposium Success!
The 2006 SURE poster symposium took place on Wednesday the 30th of August in TCD with 23 summer research students presenting posters of their research work. Students and guests were formally welcomed to the session by TCD Dean of Graduate Studies Professor Patrick Prendergast who again stressed the importance of research experience early in the undergraduate academic career. A number or prizes were issued on the day to four successful students for their exceptional posters in the areas of content and presentation, speaking on behalf of the judges Dr. Kamal Abdali of Science Foundation Ireland expressed the difficulty the judging group had in selecting the winners as all the posters were of such a high standard. Prof. Werner Blau, head of the TCD UREKA Site and SURE programme brought the 2006 programme to a close and once again congrulated all the participating students on their success and dedication this summer and also wished them every success in their future careers.
